Effect The caster enchants a small stone, which changes its form dependent upon the resulting effect for up to 24 hours while orbiting the caster protectively. The caster can grab the stone and put it away, which temporarily disables the effect. It will resume when tossed into the air again. At any time, the caster can dismiss the power in a stone, removing the enchantment. Guardian Stones that must be activated to use their power do not require a verbal component to do so.

Initially, the caster is limited to a single guardian stone from the Minor Enchantment table. When the ritual is completed, the channeler rolls a 1d10 and gains the correlating guardian stone. At Rank 3, in addition to a Minor Guardian Stone, the caster gains the ability to enchant a second active guardian stone using the Major Enchantment table. At Rank 5 a third guardian stone (from the Greater Enchantment table) may be added to the channeler's collection. The channeler may only have one of each at a time.

The first guardian stone of each type created in a 24 hour period is free, however, if a stone is dismissed, destroyed, or used up, recasting the stone costs 1 mana for a Minor guardian stone, 2 mana for a Major guardian stone, and 3 mana for a Greater guardian stone.

Minor Enchantment
1d10 Result Power Description
1 Lodestone A small chunk of iron ore. This guardian stone provides the channeler with an innate awareness of the world’s magnetic poles, providing +1 enhancement bonus to navigational skill checks. This increases to +2 at Rank 3, and then to +3 at Rank 5.
2 Fluorite Gain +1 Resistance vs. Disease. This increases to +2 at Rank 3, and then to +3 at Rank 5.
3 Fool's Gold Gain +1 enhancement to Stealth and Deception skill checks. This increases to +2 at Rank 3, and then to +3 at Rank 5.
4 Sunstone This stone absorbs sunlight when exposed to it, and may be activated later to emit sunlight at about the brightness of a torch.
5 Petoskey Stone Gain +1 enhancement to Swim skill checks. This increases to +2 at Rank 3, and then to +3 at Rank 5. Once per day, activate with a Standard Action to gain Breathe Water for 1 hour.
6 Flint Weapons wielded by a channeler with this guardian stone passively gain +1 Armor Piercing. At Rank 5, this increases to +2.
7 Black Pearl This stone may be crushed as a free action, enabling the caster to reroll a non-combat skill check.
8 Jade This guardian stone allows the channeler to cast Cleanse 1 time per day as a standard action before collapsing into dust. This limit increases to 2 at Rank 3, and then to 3 at Rank 5.
9 Labradorite As a standard action, the stone may be crushed to give the caster 1 Frost Resistance for 1 hour. This increases to 2 at Rank 3, and then to 3 at Rank 5.
0 Pet Rock A small alabaster figurine that can move and act as the channeler’s Familiar for 24 hours. It can levitate within 2 yards above the ground and deals damage by launching itself at enemies. The Pet Rock has the following statistics: Health: 4, Vigor: 2, Physical Defense: 2 (2 dodge), Magical Defense: 1, Magic Resistance: 8d10, Attack: 6 (+1 Armor Piercing), Speed: 10


Major Enchantment
1d10 Result Power Description
1 Mica When activated as a Standard Action, this stone shatters into shimmering shards that bend light around targets within reach (1 yard) of the channeler, making them hard to see. Attacks against targets covered in Mica shards for the next Rank rounds must succeed on a Physical Resistance Roll vs. the channeler’s Casting or fail to connect.
2 Tiger's Eye Gain a +Rank enhancement bonus to Search or Perception skills when looking for hidden paths, doors, or traps.
3 Petrified Wood While active, the caster gains +2 enhancement to Knowledge: Nature and Survival skill checks. This increases to +3 at Rank 5. Three times per day, the caster may identify plants as per the spell Plant Lore.
4 Graphite When activated, this guardian stone provides a +Rank enhancement bonus to a single Knowledge skill of the caster’s choice for 1 hour. The Knowledge skill must be chosen at the time of enchantment and may not be changed later.
5 White Sapphire This perfectly clear guardian stone may be activated or deactivated as a Standard Action to conceal the presence of any active guardian stones, and also prevents other magical items in the the channeler's possession from emanating magical auras that might be detected by spells such as Sense Magic or Mage Sight. Such spells must succeed on an opposed Casting Roll vs. the channeler’s Casting Roll to pierce this concealment.
6 Cinnabar As a Standard Action, explode this stone into a cloud of toxic material that envelops nearby foes. Targets ending their turn in the noxious cloud must succeed on an opposed Poison Resistance roll vs. Casting, or receive a -4 penalty on all skill rolls and -2 dodge for 1 hour.
7 Bismuth Activating this guardian stone as a Standard Action allows the channeler to Air Walk for 1 hour, after which the stone loses its enchantment.
8 Fossilized Bone This guardian stone may be utilized as a Full Round action to summon the rest of a fossilized skeleton of suitable size to be used as a mount by the channeler. While mounted, the channeler may act as though they have Rank 1 and Rank 2 of the Mounted Combat benefit, and the summoned mount counts as a Trained Mount for the purposes of the benefit.
9 Obsidian A small disc of obsidian that, when shattered as a Standard Action, may be used to Glean Secrets.
0 Alexandrite This stone may be used to store mana equal to the caster’s Magic score until 24 hours after the enchantment is cast. When full, the stone is blue-green in color. When empty of mana, the gem appears to be red.


Greater Enchantment
1d10 Result Power Description
1 Amber If the caster is reduced to 0 or fewer Health (without dying) this Guardian Stone immediately shatters, reactively preserving her life and returning her to 1 health.
2 Bloodstone This guardian stone gains a charge each time the caster deals damage to a target the bloodstone gains 1 charge, up to a maximum of 5 charges. These charges may be consumed at will to provide the caster with 1 lethal healing per charge. If 4 or more charges are consumed at once, the stone is destroyed.
3 Hagstone A smooth stone with a hole large enough to see through. Viewing the world through this hole provides the caster with True Sight as per the spell.
4 Ruby This guardian stone may be destroyed as a Standard Action to provide the caster with Fire Immunity at Rank for 1 hour.
5 Granite This guardian stone provides the channeler with a +Rank enhancement bonus to STR. Additionally, as long as the caster is standing on earth or stone, she may not be tripped, knocked back, or knocked prone.
6 Diamond This guardian stone provides the caster with immunity to mind-affecting spells equal to or less than Rank.
7 Fulgarite With a Standard Action, this guardian stone shatters into a blast of Chain Lightning, which starts by hitting the nearest target in front of the channeler.
8 Aquamarine This guardian stone may be used to manifest a rank 4 Water Spirit into the channeler’s service for 24 hours or until the spirit is destroyed.
9 Emerald This guardian stone allows the channeler to Speak with Animals, and to control one animal at a time as per Command Animal.
0 Amethyst Swallowing this small amethyst as a Standard Action triggers a Complete Heal.
