Effect "They don't question you. They simply Delve. They find what they want, or they punish you by breaking your mind." Meeting the target's eyes, you force your way into their mind, opening their thoughts to you. Roll Willpower + Sorcery + Seed: Compel vs. a target's Mental Resistance. If they fail, you establish a magical link to the target's mind. While this link persists, the caster may read the target’s surface thoughts as if using Detect Thoughts, maintaining the link with concentration for as long as desired. The effect is subtle but unmistakable; a cold awareness brushing at the edge of the target’s consciousness. Even when the spell is used lightly, most subjects experience a creeping sense of exposure, like realizing a shadow is moving behind their own eyes. A target who resists the casting feels the mental pressure recoil and may attempt a Knowledge: Magic roll to recognize that a mind-affecting power was directed at them.

Inflict Madness

This intrusion is terrifying on its own, but at any time while the spell is active, the caster may choose to violently inject planar magic directly into the target's mind. When this occurs, the target must make a second Mental Resistance roll. Failing this causes them to suffer intense psychic feedback inflicting a Short-Term Madness. At Rank 4, this feedback can inflict Long-Term Madness, and at Rank 5, Indefinite Madness. This effect may only be attempted once per round, and Backlash is rolled each time.

This ability, along with Dominate, contribute a lot to the fear ordinary people have of sorcerers. It takes a brave or very foolish person to meet the eye of someone who can break your mind or enslave you for doing so.
