| Effect | You surround yourself in a haze of entropic shadow that clings to nearby afflicted enemies. Any enemy inside the aura while suffering from an affliction suffers a penalty to Speed equal to your Affliction Rank. While affected by Clinging Shadows, the first time each round a target takes damage from Entropy, Arcane Decay, Doom, or Essence Drain, it suffers 1 additional lethal damage. Clinging Shadows cannot be spread to other targets by Spread Affliction, they must be within the aura to be affected, however removing the effect with Malediction does count it as an affliction.
Example: Jarod moves towards a goblin shaman, putting them inside the range of his Clinging Shadows. As his Standard Action Jarod casts Arcane Decay on the goblin, who fails. The goblin immediately suffers a -4 penalty to speed while in the aura. Arcane Decay deals an immediate 2 lethal damage when it resolves, which causes the shaman to take an additional 1 point of lethal damage from Clinging Shadows. On the following round the goblin (still within the aura) takes another 3 damage. Jarod casts Essence Drain on the beleaguered goblin, who suffers an immediate 1 lethal from the spell healing Jarod for 1 health and 1 mana. This second spell does not trigger the bonus damage from Clinging Shadows as it may only take affect once per target per turn. |
