Blao River Valley

The Blao River Valley constitutes Avemroth's fertile highland valleys north of Fenn City and Clensbrim. Light Street rises from Fenn City to join Blao Street at a small trading hamlet on the southern banks of Langmere, the second-longest lake on the island. Five roads branch off from these roads (one from Blao Street alone) and lead down to coastal shipping and fishing villages. The most significant of these branches is the Isinroth Road, which branches to the south from the western banks of Forcamere and past Isinlac to the port village of Isinroth Road just south of the Blao River Delta. Taverns and trading posts feature at each of the highland crossroads.

Characteristics

The city's control and maintenance of Light Street allows the city to maintain hegemony over the Blao River Valley despite its distance from the city's core districts. The Farm Guild controls the arable land in the valley, and the low-income farmers—fearful of being overrun by criminals from the slums—have been known to react violently to any traveler perceived to be spending too long in the valley. While far from luxurious, the Blao River Valley is the safest and most comfortable low-income area on the island.
