Effect “I am everywhere courage has died.” You mold the fear you have sown, giving it form in your own image. This Avatar of Dread is a manifestation of your Patron's divine presence, and a reflection of your will. The Avatar manifests in any open space within 10 yards × Rank of you or within your Dominion of Dread. It resembles you but lacks solid substance. Its eyes burn with black flame; its voice echoes with every soul that has ever feared you. You may project your consciousness into the Avatar or allow it to act autonomously under limited command. The Avatar has the following statistics:


Health Rank (immune to non-magical damage).
Speed 10 yards + Rank, ignores difficult terrain.
Immunities Poison, Disease, Mind-affecting abilities
Powers Naturally emits your Dread Presence


Projection of Will

As a Full Action, you may transfer your consciousness into the Avatar. While doing so:

  • Your physical body becomes inert and unable to act. Your body is still vulnerable, but you retain a basic understanding of its disposition. For example, you know if you have been harmed.
  • You may cast any Fear Domain power (including Dread Presence) through the Avatar as if you were physically present at its location. Doing so does not interrupt the Concentration required for maintaining the Avatar.
  • The Avatar cannot make physical or weapon attacks, manipulate objects, or cast powers from other Domains or Sources.
  • The Avatar uses your Intelligence + Channeling Skill + Fear Domain Rank for spell rolls.
  • While projecting, you may switch consciousness between your body and the Avatar as a Fast Action once per round.
  • If the Avatar is destroyed (reduced to 0 HP), your consciousness snaps back to your body, and you suffer 5d10 damage from psychic backlash. You may not resummon the Avatar of Dread for 1 hour.

Domain Custodian

If the Avatar is manifested within a Dominion of Dread, it may act semi-autonomously while you are elsewhere. It can:

  • Maintain your Dread Presence within the Dominion indefinitely.
  • Automatically apply Chains of Contrition to qualifying targets that enter the Dominion.
  • Speak and act with your voice; those who hear it cannot distinguish it from you without magical insight.

While the Avatar operates independently, you may sense everything it perceives and issue brief commands as a Standard Action from any distance, provided you are conscious and on the same plane. As a Standard Action, you may instantly swap places with your Avatar. When you do so, the Avatar switches places with your former location. This counts as a teleportation effect.
