Effect The caster creates either a sphere or a flat plane in any orientation that functions as a trigger for anything specified passing through it. The caster may specify a generic description of what triggers the alarm. The description must be something that one of the system's sense or sight spells could detect, and may not be more precise. For example the caster may specify 'Any Living Being' based on the Sense Life spell, but not "Thruuk the Mad". The spell definition used does not have to be known to the caster, and may be from arcanum other than Magecraft.

When the sphere or plane is broken by something matching the description the caster set, the spell sounds an audible chime or a silent mental alert to the caster. The caster chooses which at the time of casting.
